Chihuahua Savage Defeat Baltimore Blast for MASL Title
The Blast scored the first goal by Jonatas Melo midway through the first quarter to take a 1-0 lead but the Savage scored the next eight goals for an 8-1 lead in the fourth quarter on a goal by Jorge Rios. The goal gave Rios his second hat trick in the finals. The Blast made a run, cutting the lead to 9-5 with 4:37 left in regulation. Enrique Canez nailed it down with a goal for the Savage with 1:19 left to pad the lead 10-5.
The Savage, from Chihuahua in Mexico in their second season, won the first game of the series with a thrilling 7-6 overtime win then ended the Blast in their quest for an 11th title in game two.
Jorge 'Pareja' Rios was named the series most valuable player and Ivan Munoz was chosen as the best goalkeeper.
Chihuahua lost to the San Diego Sockers in the semifinals last season.
The Savage finished second in the Western Conference then edged out the Monterrey Flash 2 games to 1 in the quarterfinals and then avenged last year's semifinals loss to the Sockers, winning in three games.

The MASL completed its 15th season with 14 teams competing in the 2022-2023 season. The Milwaukee Wave and San Diego Sockers won division titles. Both teams were knocked out in the semifinals by teams which finished second in their respective divisions.
