Obscure Leagues: Maximum Basketball League


The Maximum Basketball League (MBL) is entering into its ninth season this year with 45 teams located throughout the United States.  The league is a semi-professional men's basketball league began as the Midwest Basketball League in 2015 with eleven teams.  In 2023-2024, there will be 44 teams divided into five divisions.  The top eight teams in each division will qualify for "Maximum Madness" to crown the 2024 champions.  The Chicago Fury won the title last season but has moved to play in the American Basketball Association.

The MBL's top players are Henry Blair (Georgia Bombers), Tay Merriweather (DFW Gorillas), Isaac Smith (Chicago Legends) and Chuck Guy (Team Takeover).
