Here's an update on some of the lastest in obscure sports news:

NBA G-League:  The Sioux Falls Skyforce (7-0) and Austin Spurs (5-0) are the only undefeated teams in the league.  Skyforce Guard Alondes Williams was recently named NBA G League Player of the Week.  He broke the Skyforce franchise record for points in a game with 55 points in a 138-130 win over the Salt Lake City Stars.  His performance was just the third game in NBA G League history of 55-plus points on 70-or-higher percent shooting from the field.  Williams played in college with Wake Forest.

Major Arena Soccer League:  The Kansas City Comets (7-1) and Monterrey Flash (7-0) are the top teams in the Eastern Division while the Texas Outlaws (5-2-1) and San Diego Sockers (5-0) are battling for the top of the Western Division.  The Flash currently has the league's longest winning streak with seven straight wins.

National Lacrosse League:  The Albany FireWolves (5-0) and Toronto Rock (3-0) are the remaining unbeaten teams in the league.  Alex Simmons (Albany) and Shayne Jackson (Georgia) lead the league in scoring with 15 goals.

Professional Volleyball Federation:  The league's seven teams will begin their inaugural season on January 24th when the Atlanta Vibe play at the Omaha Supernovas.  Nebraska seems to be a very popular location for women's volleyball.  The league's Number 1 overall pick - Asjia O'Neal (Texas) - signed with the Columbus Fury.

American Women's Football League:  The league recently posted the schedule for its inaugural 2024 season that will feature eight teams called the Dallas Prime, Houston Power, Bayou Storm Surge (Baton Rouge), Carolina Scorpion (Columbia, SC), Carolina Dames (Columbia, SC), Virginia Lady Eagles, Carolina Queens (Charlotte) and Huntsville (AL) Tigers. Each team will play five games from April 6 through June 1, 2024.

Professional Women's Hockey League:  The new six-team PWHL, which was created after investors in the tour-based Professional Women's Hockey Players Association purchased the seven-team women's professional league known as the Premier Hockey Federation, started its inaugural 2024 season this week with each team playing a 24-game schedule through May 5, 2024. None of the teams have been assigned nicknames and are known simply by their home market: PWHL Boston (Lowell, MA), PWHL Minnesota (St. Paul), PWHL Ottawa, PWHL Toronto, PWHL Montreal (Laval & Montreal) and PWHL New York (Elmont, NY & Bridgeport, CT).  The league got off to a record-setting crowds in Ottawa and Minnesota.  

Professional Bowlers Association Elite League:  The team-based league has started the 2024 season with eight teams:  Las Vegas High Rollers, Akron Atom Splitters, Portland Lumberjacks, Bowlero L.A. X, Waco Wonders, Motown Muscle, New Jersey KingPins, GoBowling Dallas Strikers.
