Pro Frisbee Final Four is Set


The 2024 Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) championship weekend will be hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah.  The DC Breeze, Minnesota Wind Chill, Seattle Cascades and Carolina Flyers will fight for the championship.

This will be the 12th championship weekend with the Carolina Flyers the only team in the group that has won the title when they did it in 2021 as the Raleigh Flyers.  

D.C. captured the East Division title for the first time in team history, edging the Boston Glory 16-14, while Minnesota cruised past the Madison Radicals 23-14 in the Central Division championship game to earn their second consecutive final four appearance. Carolina squeezed past the Atlanta Hustle on the road 17-16 to win their third South Division crown in four years and will look to become the third team in the league to win multiple UFA championships (2021). They will face a Seattle squad who upset the Salt Lake Shred 21-20 in the West Division and earned a trip to Championship Weekend for the first time since 2018.

The championship weekend will also feature numerous fan events throughout the weekend, including a free youth clinic on Saturday morning, followed by a 5-on-5 ultimate frisbee tournament and “Play with the Pros” fantasy scrimmage prior to the first semifinal game. Attendees can also enjoy the Wham-O Kids Zone, specialty food and beverage options, and a live UFA studio set presented by Power Up Premium Trail Mix.

Union Hockey League Begins 2023-2024 Season

The Union Hockey League (UHL) which is a senior "A" semi-pro hockey league representing the Midwest and Northeast, will begin their 2023-2024 season this month with eight teams.   The UHL is hybrid league, a mix between semi-professional hockey and senior hockey, with players being compensated for travel and other expenses via a ticket sales split but allowing them to retain their amateur status. Players can also make a substantial commission by selling season tickets and partnerships. Each team will be playing a 32-game season, with two tournaments against other senior leagues in the works to bring the season total up to 40. Chihuahua Savage Repeat as MASL Champions

With all of the attention on Monterrey with their undefeated regular season record, it was the Chihuahua Savage which took the spotlight as they completed a sweep of the Kansas City Comets in the Ron Newman Cup final. With the score tied at 4-4 with 1:20 left, Hugo Puentes took the ball to the left side of the goal and in a half-turn, scored for the 5-4 game winner and series clincher for the Savage and repeat as Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) champions. The Savage also won a thriller in the first game of the series in Kansas City 4-3.  The Comets lead 3-1 but Chihuahua overcame that deficit with goals from Roberto Escalante and Puentes.  Escalante notched the game-winner with 3:44 left. Chihuahua swept the Baltimore Blast in last year's final.
