They came up smelling like roses with the first Unrivaled Basketball League title. The 3-on-3 women's professional league crowned Rose as their first league champion. Chelsea Gray was named playoff MVP after helping her team Rose BC beat Vinyl 62-54 in a thrilling final to Unrivaled’s debut season. She averaged 28.5 points in two postseason games including 39 points in the semifinals.

Unrivaled games are played with three seven-minute quarters and an untimed fourth. Teams play to a “winning score” determined by adding 11 points to the squad that is leading after three quarters. Monday’s target score was 62, and Sykes went to the line with the Rose leading 61-54. Gray finished with 18 points and eight assists. Azura Stevens added 19 points and 18 rebounds. Rhyne Howard led Vinyl with 22 points and six rebounds. Rose played the game without one of their best players. Angel Reese was sidelined for the playoffs because of a hand injury.

The Rose finished the regular season in second place at 8-6. Rose defeated Laces 63-57 in the semifinals.

Unrivaled has averaged about 218,000 viewers on TNT/TruTV during its first season – still navigating its brand awareness among casual basketball fans not yet familiar with the alternative 3-on-3 women’s basketball league. The league played all of their games in Miami but hopes to branch out to other venues next season.
